HealthcareBusinessOffice LLC designs, develops, and distributes continuing education courses on CD for the medical coding industry, specializing in the education needs of AAPC-certified coders.

The original format, self-contained on CD-ROM, allows users to go through courses at their own pace without an Internet connection, any place where there’s a PC with CD-ROM drive. This format gained in popularity over the years, as thousands of user licenses have been purchased by coders in virtually all 50 of the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii.

To broaden the compatibility of platforms, the firm introduced its courses on what is called Cloud-CD™ format, allowing users with Apple Macintosh computers and Windows “ultralight” laptops with no CD drive to use courses via Internet connection. Once again, the courses are self-contained and nothing gets downloaded to the computer.

CD-ROM has retained much of its popularity, though, especially in regions of the U.S. where Internet service is not as fast or as reliable as one would like. The CD-ROM allows the user to go through the course "unplugged", with no need for an Internet connection.
